this isn't possible

this is the unrealistic outcome

this is not my american dream

the consequence of a nation at war

for more than 200 years

the consequence of 400 years of colorful sin

the lack of regulations

guaranteed by a second amendment

ringing out to a "well regulated militia" 

this national nightmare takes so much

for me it wasn't a gun but a knife

this violence stole joy from me and my children

this isn't the topic for polite conversation

politics... not something you bring up

but is this polite society

i need

i desperately need

for the next vote i cast

we are a commonwealth you know

we are a government of the people

by the people we are the people

i need them to come for our guns

not just to ban assault weapons

i need them to deescalate a nation

if they are not writing

non-violence into law

they are not my community leader

if they are not guiding

us towards an unrealistic future

then i will not follow them

will i risk the loss of a dream of home

turning over control to hatred

while i wander with flowers in my hair

or will i compromise

accepting once again

two thirds of a promise
