history continues

there is repetition

Gil Scott-Heron sings about

revolution

I need a revolution while i

work on incremental change

Clemson University a public land-grant institution

i became a fan recently of their football team

All Win and On the bus with the rest of ya'll

captivating t-shirt sentiments

Land grant institutions profit off of stolen land

as many systems and institutions do

and more recently the success of the students

playing for the University have given

their equity to the institutions profit

i do not know if this is willingly or not

it likely is not given with critically reflective

informed consent at the very least

The connection is a line in a song

you will not have to worry

about the tiger in your tank

the Esso Club is a landmark

of Clemson's

Esso rebrands to ExxonMobile

at some point in time

climate change is real

as real as i want the revolution to be

The football stadium

named Death Valley

i strolled once around a hill top that

with fewer trees would

look over the stadium

There were barriers up

not for road construction

but to highlight that on

what had been the walking path

or even dirt road grown

over with grass

was actually the burial

grounds of unknown

unnamed - unmarked

graves of formerly enslaved people

they had been buried here

unmarked and thus

removed from history

with our technologies

more is visible

we have the opportunity

to not remove from history

the lived experiences of

people

we have to

with a new frame of what is profitable

build tools that mines the recent past

and the present the gold

for our future and for

future peoples

value should be based on connection

progress made not measured in a quarters

but in humane human evolution
